Departure for Venice from New York. Overnight flight



June 4

Arrival in Venice. Meet your local guide and coach for your transfer to your hotel in nearby Vincenza. Vicenza is an art center in its own right. It is here that the architect Palladio lived and worked nearly 400 years ago. The architecture around the main square of town, or Piazza, is magnificent, as you will find out. Vincenza is ideally located for sightseeing tours to various interesting sites nearby. Dinner and overnight in Vicenza.



June 5

A full day of exploration and relaxation awaits you as we spend time in the Venetian area. Venice is like no other city you will have ever seen before. Streets are canals, buses are boats, taxies are speedboats and sightseeing coaches are gondolas. Venice used to be the capital of the mighty Venetian Empire and you can see the wealth of the middle ages all around you as you tour the central part of this unusual city this morning. Your guide will take you to the impressive Doges Palace as well as to the St. Marc’s Basilica where you will sing later during the day.

There is time to explore Venice independently. Art galleries, beaches, impressive churches, which are museums in their own right and wonderful shops, are all waiting for you. Evening concert in Vicenza.



June 6

Departure for Tuscany. First part of your drive to the center of art will be through the fertile Veneto region. Here you find many fruit trees and agricultural farms. We will head to Ravenna where we will make a short stop for some interesting sightseeing. Ravenna used to be a Byzantine center and its mosaic’s are something else. Come and see. They date back 2000 years. Continue your drive to Florence via the Apennine Mountains. This is something to be seen. It is so beautiful. Do not forget to take your camera and lots of film.

Drive to Montecatini for dinner and overnight stay.



June 7

This morning’s sightseeing tour will take you to the Uffizi Gallery, the Academia, where you will see the famous statue of David, the Republican and Signoria Square and not to forget the Gates of Paradise, as Michelangelo called them.

The afternoon has been kept free for you to explore independently. Do not forget those magnificent shops and the churches all around you. They are like museums with their with their many art treasures, from frescoes, to sculpture to paintings which can often be found over the altar pieces. Concert venue, dinner and overnight near Florence.



June 8

This morning you will travel to Pisa to see its famous leaning tower, the Baptistery and the Cathedral. We will head in the direction of Siena this afternoon. There is time to explore this lovely city with its magnificent Campo or Main Square as well as its impressive Cathedral. Overnight in Siena.



June 9

A leisurely drive will take you to Assisi. You will pass from Tuscany to Umbria, which is often referred to as the green state of Italy. Umbria is the only state in Italy, which does not have a coastline. However the large volcanic lake of Trasimeno can be found here and makes up for the lack of beaches in Umbria. Concert venue, dinner and overnight in Assisi



June 10

Assisi is the birthplace of St. Frances, who is the patron saint of Italy. He is buried in the Basilica, which bears his name. The Basilica is a splendid work of medieval architecture. Assisi itself is a serene village, which is situated on the Mount Subasio. Visit with a local father the impressive Basilica that houses some of the most important frescoes of the Renaissance and spend some special quiet times in this magical village. It is a treat to be here in Assisi. Departure for Rome after lunch for late afternoon arrival in the Eternal city



June 11

A full day of sightseeing awaits you today. This morning we embark onto a journey of art and architecture. Did you ever dream that you would stand in the Sistine Chapel where Michelangelo painted the creation and last Judgment? Come and join your friends as you walk through the art gallery of the Vatican Museum prior to arrival in the chapel of Popes. Continue your sightseeing after lunch and see ancient Rome. You will step back in history and enjoy some of the sites of the Roman Empire. There is so much to see in the Imperial capital, be it from the Roman Forum, the Caracalla bath and the circus Maximus. All these ancient sites will come to live as we tour them this morning under the guidance of a local expert. Evening concert, dinner and overnight in Rome. .



June 12

A full day at leisure for you to explore Rome independently or the possibility of an optional tour to Pompeii is on today’s itinerary. For those of you who would like to learn more about the world of antiquities with its’ archeological splendors, then this excursion to Pompeii is for you. For those of you who want to relax a bit and explore Rome in more detail, then here is your chance. The choice is yours. Enjoy.



June 13

Morning at leisure for you to attend a church service if required. One more lovely lunch perhaps to be taken in Rome and then it is off to the airport for your late afternoon flight to London for overnight stay.
Dinner in-flight. Overnight near London airport.



June 14

Morning transfer to London Gatwick and continue your British Airways flight to New York where you will arrive in the middle of the afternoon.
